"The Flash" season 3 lead star Grant Gustin recently talked about the Flashpoint storyline that will be at the center of the upcoming episodes.

While speaking with IMDb (via Cosmic Book News) at the recently concluded 2016 San Diego Comic Con, the actor said that there will be some huge and permanent ramifications following Barry's decision to save his parents.

"I think we can state Flashpoint does not last all season long. But there are permanent ramifications," he said.

The actor also said that most of the characters from the series will see Barry's decision to save his parents as a very selfish act. In fact, some fans have also been noting the same thing.

However, Gustin said that there's more to Barry's decision than just being selfish and he's very pleased that Iris West (Candice Patton) understands that.

"People were like, 'Why did you do that?' And I think that he wasn't going to do that, but I think that sitting on that porch, having just defeated Zoom, Iris says to Barry what he's always wanted to hear, and he feels empty inside. That was the moment... As selfish as it was that Barry wanted his parents, I think it's more about 'these two speedsters took away their life because of me and they deserve to have a chance at life. I can't do this. I need to give them that chance,'" he explained.

Meanwhile, Gustin also confirmed that "Supergirl" won't crossover to "The Flash" season 3 anytime soon. After all, the first few scripts for season 3 are all Flashpoint centered.

"It's pretty Flashpoint focused right now, which I think we are going to see the repercussions coming out of Flashpoint. There will be ramifications all season long from Flashpoint," he said.

In other news, Gustin and his co-stars are still on set filming for the first half of "The Flash" season 3.

Just recently, photos of the cast members were published online via their respective social media accounts.

"The Flash" season 3 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
