No More Nexus 2016 Release as Google to Soon Launch Flagship Smartphones with Customized Android 7.0 Nougat? (Photo : Android Police)
Fresh rumors indicate that the Google Nexus 2016 release date is happening in the first week of October. The wait is not too far but for the impatient, they can forget about the next Nexus flagships and consider instead three supersized Android rivals - the Honor Note 8 from Huawei, the LG V20 and the just introduced Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
LG V20
LG has confirmed, according to Slash Gear, that a sequel to last year's LG V10 is in the works and coming out, and rumors said the device introduction will take place via the 2016 IFA Berlin trade show, which kicks off September 4. As expected, the LG V20 is a natural step up from the V10, certainly improving inside and out. The V20 is seen to continue boasts the dual camera set up of the V10 but with refinements and enhancements.
But the more notable feature to unbox with the LG V20 is the likelihood that it will be the first new Android handset to get Android 7.0 Nougat and reports are saying that the V20 will in fact rock the next Android ahead of the Nexus 2016 models.
Honor Note 8
From Huawei, the 6.6-inch Honor Note 8 will soon hit the U.S. market and per the report from 9to5Google, unveiling will happen before the end of August. The report added that the device "packs the Huawei-made, octa-core Kirin 955 chipset alongside the Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage." The camera combo is 13MP sensor on rear with an f/2.0 aperture, OIS and an RGBW sensor and a front facing 8MP camera.
The Honor Note 8 will retail at around $350, which likely is the same starting price of the cheaper Nexus from HTC codenamed for now as Sailfish. But the former will certainly out-spec the latter, proving that it is the best bang for the buck.
Samsung Galaxy Note 7
Samsung's 2016 phablet flagship is officially out and will commercially debut August 19. In an early review, BGR highlighted 10 giant features to unbox with the Note 7 that most likely its chief rivals will never match - the article pointing to old and upcoming iPhones and possibly the next Stock Android phone from Google.
The only thing not too compelling about the Galaxy Note 7 is the asking price, which is $850 or $100 more than the iPhone 6S Plus basic sticker price and nearly twice the premium of the Nexus 6P tag. But as mentioned, the Note 7 screams of premium inside and out that make the cash damage all worth.
