Northern Ireland actor Liam Neeson is happy to hear of the success of his new movie "Operation Chromite" in South Korea in the weekend. He plays General Douglas MacArthur who led the United Nations Command during the second world war. Neeson feels honored and humbled to be part of an epic story of resilience, courage and bravery of the Korean people.

Neeson's new movie is about the landing operation in Incheon, South Korea during the 1950-1953 Korean War. It centers on a clandestine intelligence unit which spies in North Korea to be prepared for the historic fight. The movie is about "X-Ray," a life-and-death 24-hour mission led by MacArthur and eight Koreans.

The Korean war film from CJ Entertainment also stars Korean actor Lee Jung Jae. It drew about 1.8 million viewers across the country on 1,047 screens over the July 29 to 31 weekend. The film's domestic box office total is 2.62 million.

Through an email to the movie production, the 64-year-old Irish actor congratulated the movie producers, director John H. Lee, his Korean co-actors and the crew who worked hard to make their project a success, Yonhap News reported. "Operation Chromite," the Korean War drama debuted in Korea and stays on top of the box office.

The Korean war film "Operation Chromite" replaces "Train to Busan" which was last week's winner and now being slipped to second place. The zombie thriller raked in $11.09 million from $1.45 million admissions between Friday and Sunday, extending a total of $61.05 million from 8.4 million admissions, Variety reported.

UPI's "Jason Bourne" which debuted on the same day as Neeson's movie landed third, with $11.37 million from 1.54 million admissions for the first five days. With 308,400 admissions on the opening day, it is the largest "Jason Bourne" opening, and in fact, Matt Damon's too, in Korea. The top three films accounted for 88 percent of the country's total weekend box office revenue.

Animated feature "Finding Dory" was in the fourth place while  c  Crime action film "Now You See Me 2" was in fifth place, with its 77.1 percent week-on-week drop. It earned $787,000 between Friday and Sunday and gets $22.04 million total after three weekends.
