Battleborn distributor Take Two has admitted that the game is not doing well in terms of sales after it was just recently released in May 2016 going against Overwatch, Team Fortress 2 and others.

Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, Battleborn is one of the many online first-person shooters that aim to give players a new experience compared to Warframe and Counter Strike: Global Offensive from Valve. It was released across the globe for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows for PC.

What makes it different from the other shooters and more like Overwatch is the fact that it is also considered to be a hero shooter and also includes several MOBA elements. Unfortunately, the game may have entered the arena a little too late.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors that they will still continue to place their faith in Battleborn despite the sales lagging behind their expectations, MCV has learned. Battleborn did receive mostly positive reviews even from the critics but it still failed to make a solid impression for the millions of gamers across the world.

Zelnick believes that there is still untapped opportunity in Battleborn as 2K will still try to market the game to gain more traction. The game makes money through the virtual currency and other add-on content similar to how Overwatch and Team Fortress 2 operates.

Some reviews of the game are not entirely negative but they are low compared to other games in the market. Metacritic scores reveal that the Battleborn PC and PlayStation 4 version scores just around 70 for the Metascore, Gamingbolt reported.

Battleborn has about 25 playable characters when it was released. There are no updates yet on whether the developers would add more characters but it should not be expected considering that the game just recently launched several months ago.

Players can also try out the story-based missions that can be played along with friends. These missions give some sort of backstory for the Battleborn characters.

Take-Two still appears to be highly committed in making the game flourish more with 2K. Battleborn is available for PC, Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 for interested players.
