Invel finally begins to show why he is Zeref's right hand man as Natsu and the others were temporarily halted by his magic. Meanwhile, Zeref and Irene are extracting the Fairy Heart out of Mavis.
Early "Fairy Tail" chapter 497 spoilers have been leaked courtesy of Manga Sail and it appears that Invel will be making his way to the battlefield. Serving as a strategist when the Alvarez Empire arc started, the Spriggan 12 member is now ready to do some damage and he is successful in stopping Natsu and the team by turning them into ice.
Meanwhile, Zeref is slowly getting the upper-hand in the war as he is halfway done from stealing the Fairy Heart, considered as the strongest magic of all, away from Mavis with the help of Irene. Fairy Heart is Mavis' very existence and should the Dark Mage succeed with his goal, this would result to the death of Fairy Tail's first Grand Master.
Lastly, Gildarts is wreaking havoc in the battlefield as he continues to destroy the foot soldiers of the opposing nation. It would not be long until he meets his match.
Fans over at Reddit speculated on other possible events that could happen in this chapter. As Invel showcases his Ice Magic, Gray is expected to stay behind and battle his fellow ice mage. Fans believe Gray has improved a lot and they have yet to see the full extent of his Ice-Make and Ice Devil Slayer Magic. Also, some even suggested that he will be backed up once again by his friend, Leon and they will come up with a strategy similar to how they defeated Racer.
Also, fans believe Gildarts' opponent will be Larcade Dragneel. Both of them will showcase never before seen magic and the former will ultimately walk out victorious. However, some suggest that it should be August who should be his opponent as they are both veterans and possess strong magic. But some contradict the idea as August may be secretly an ally since he spared Mirajane's life.
