Patrica Arquette, who has been awarded as Best Supporting Actress at Oscars 2015 for "Boyhood" has urged everyone for the equal rights of women.
Arquette delivered a powerful speech upon accepting the award as Best Supporting Actress on Feb. 22, Sunday, in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre, The Daily Beast reported.
The actress thanked her boyfriend Eric White and fellow nominees, family and friends, then she talks a about equal rights for women that owed the people at the said event.
"To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else's equal rights," Arquette said. "It's our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America!"
Most of the audience gave a standing ovation, including Jennifer Lopez and Meryl Streep.
Furthermore, according to Elle, "Boyhood" actress said that it is time for all the women to fight for equal rights. She shared some specific ideas on how the equal rights will be attained. "We need federal laws that are comprehensive, in some states they all together thrown out the fairness voting act."
Meanwhile, other colleagues in entertainment industry supported Arquette. One of them is Emma Watson who posted a photo of Arquetta on her Twitter account. Watson is the United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador and promoting the cause #HeForShe.
Arquette has previously won Gold Globe, BAFTA Award for her "Boyhood" role and Screen Actors Guild Award.
Meanwhile, this year's best actress is Julianne Moore in the leading role for "Still Alice."
