On "Game of Thrones," winter has come to Westeros. In the real world, fans are still waiting for the release of George R.R. Martin's "Winds of Winter." There's still no certainty as to when the book will come out or if it will precede "Game of Thrones" Season 7. An expert theorist on "A Song of Ice and Fire," however, gave his sound opinion about when Martin might actually drop the highly anticipated tome.

"ASOIAF" theorist BryndenBFish, who frequents Reddit, shared his ideas on the direction the upcoming book is taking.

"I think Jon Snow's mother being Lyanna Stark and his father being Rhaegar Targaryen will most likely be explicitly confirmed in the books as it has already been on the show," BryndenBFish told Winter is Coming. "But there's going to be a fair number of things that George is never going to come out and say and it won't be in the books and we won't get a hint of it on the show either.

As to when the "Winds of Winter" release date is, the Redditor speculates that it might come out early in 2017.

"I looked at it by analyzing George's writing speed for Dance With Dragons, and I still tend to see early 2017 as a potential date for when the book might come out," he said.

In the meantime, another one of Martin's novel series is making its way to the small screen. "Wild Cards" is being set for a television adaptation. The books are a completely different animal compared to the hugely successful "Game of Thrones."

This time, fans will see a world infected by an alien virus in 1946. It spawned a new breed superheroes with telepathy and flight abilities as well as deformed humans.

Martin's "Wild Cards" collaborator Melinda Snodgrass has been working on getting the books on television in the last 12 years. This time, a rather ambitious TV adaptation is in the works and is being backed by Universal Pictures.

"It's been crucial. The success of Game of Thrones and George have really helped. People now see the possibilities in this other major work," The Guardian quoted Snodgrass as saying.

No word about the official "Wild Cards" release date has been announced.
