Many Android fans believe that release date of the Google Nexus 2016 flagship phones is near, likely arriving with Android 7.0 Nougat, but one more device from the tech giant is said to unpack following the next Nexus debut. Could it be the rumored Nexus 7 tablet from Huawei?

HTC is tipped as maker of the two Nexus phones to touchdown soon and a new report by Gadget 360 further supported such scenario. As previously indicated in numerous reports, Google has tapped HTC to build two devices - a 5.5-inch phablet and a regular 5-inch handset - that will replace the Nexus phones of last year, which the new report confirmed.

Gadget 360 reported too that the upcoming devices will directly challenge Apple's flagship iPhones. "Google is positioning these devices as premium smartphones with excellent overall experience, in an attempt to take the iPhone head-on," the report said.

As worthy rivals to the industry leader, Google's flagship phones will boast of premium build and design as hinted in leaked renders and prototypes that came out in the past weeks. The inside too will be nothing short of high-end, headlined by Snapdragon 820 chip and 4GB of RAM.

And Gadget 360 said that the internal storage will be in two options - basic 32GB and whopping 128GB for users with too many files to hoard.

However, the same report highlighted one thing - that Google's upcoming Stock Android smartphones will unbox minus the Nexus brand. Instead the devices will simply sport the G logo, which of course screams of the Google brand.

Earlier reports voiced out the same claim and added that Google's upcoming signature phone will unpack with exclusive Android Nougat features - possibly its own unique launcher, user interface and an animated home button that is the quick gateway to fresh Google Search and Now on Tap features.

Provided the report is accurate, does it mean that Google will not release a Nexus device this 2016?

Not exactly, as a report by BGR pointed to the rumors concerning a second Nexus that Huawei will supposedly make for Google. The device is thought to be the second coming of the well-received Nexus 6P and Huawei even confirmed that indeed another Nexus is on the pipeline this year, the report added.

If true, this device is likely to end up as the 7-inch Nexus 7 compact tablet and will be largely the scaled up version of the Huawei Nexus 6P. The device release date will happen following the HTC Sailfish and Marlin launch, possibly scheduled between September and October 2016.
