Amazon's Twitch has recently announced that they have acquired the gaming portal and tool provider Curse for an undisclosed lump sum.

Curse has been proving PC gamers with several tools to aid in their gaming escapades with friends such as instant messaging and voice chat apps. The company also hosts several websites filled with plenty of game tips and guides for some of today's most popular games.

Twitch's Evan Freitas said that the Curse acquisition will help both the companies to give gamers what they need to share information, interact and connect with more people. Curse websites include Minecraft Forum/Wiki and the League of Legends Nexus, Digital Trends has learned.

The company also has a Curse desktop client released in 2009. It has been quietly successful especially as the popularity of MOBA games such as Dota 2 and League of Legends suddenly increased over the past few years.

Curse also operates several websites aimed to guide players of NFL games and World of Warcraft. There are also different Curse forums for Hearthstone, Diablo III, Pokemon and Minecraft, TechCrunch reported.

Twitch could be the perfect parent company of Curse considering that both delve into the massive billion-dollar gaming industry. Amazon's subsidiary has been successful at being a streaming site for PC gamers who want to share their gameplays with their audiences.

In the near future, there could be more features that will pop up in the Twitch streaming website now that Curse has been acquired. More Twitch integrations could also be seen in Curse's many websites for gaming.

Curse has also launched a new TeamSpeak competitor of the same name. The Curse application allows friends to talk in a virtual lobby and do voice chat while they play together.

VoIP applications are particularly useful for players who play in groups in their own homes. They will be able to talk to each other and strategize while playing Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and more.

Twitch has not disclosed how much they shelled out to buy Curse. More details are expected soon as the two gaming companies finalize the deal.
