Rumor has it that the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016 could feature the Intel's latest Kaby Lake processors. However, if new reports are anything to go by, the new MacBook Pro will not feature newest processors from the chip company.
It is because Intel launches the low-power 15W U-series chips and 4.5W Y-series chips first, meaning that the processors are certainly not for the MacBook Pro. The Kaby Lake chips that are more appropriate for the Mac mini, iMac and MacBook Pro will not be releasing till the end of this year.
Rumors suggest the MacBook Pro is expected to get a big overhaul in 2016, with a built-in OLED touch panel, Touch ID support and a thinner design, according to a report from Forbes. At present, there is no information on a release date. However, speculations are doing the rounds that the Apple device will release after the September iPhone event and before the end of the 2016.
Kaby Lake is the third chip that is manufactured using the company's 14-nanometer process. It offers support for DisplayPort 1.2, native USB 3.1 and Thunderbolt 3.
According to reports, the latest processors are shipping to Intel's manufacturing partners and will release in new devices coming this fall.
The Skylake processors present in the forthcoming devices will boost CPU speeds by 10% to 20%. Also, Intel's iGPU series will provide the much required performance in a variety of given conditions. The MacBook Pro lineup will be thinner due to the efficiency of Skylake processors, 9to5Mac reported.
The OLED panel will replace the physical function keys on the top part of the notebook's keyboard layout.
Meanwhile, according to latest reports, Apple will unveil the MacBook Air 2016 within this month or in September together with the other Apple devices. However, the software company has yet to give an indication that the new MacBook Air is in production and that it will release in time.
Furthermore, the new laptop is unlikely going to sport a Retina display. The device will reportedly be ultra-thin. The MacBook Air is also expected to feature a USB Type-C port.
