Claiming a Gym is a core Pokémon GO task that also requires defending the turn against likely challenges. Normally, stationing a powerful Pokémon following a Gym conquest will do the job but a new hack now permits the placement of Egg, which is a trick that also delivers the defender rewards.

While the fragile and helpless Pokémon Egg seems an unlikely conqueror, the new Egg glitch in Pokémon GO just made the item a powerful tool, giving players the offensive and defensive advantages. It used to be that when taking over and defending a Gym, one would need a solid Pokémon but that's not the case anymore.

According to VG247.com, many players are now capitalizing on what appears as Pokémon GO system glitch not yet corrected by Niantic. The bug allows players put an Egg when claiming a Gym instead of a Pokémon and the result is nothing short of amazing.

As Eggs have no Pokémon combat abilities and statistics, the system then reads the Egg-conquered Gym as unfit for battle, essentially marking it safe haven for its owners. It looks like that it will remain that way until the next GO update from Niantic, VG247 reported.

And the while the anomalous situation is in effect, a Pokémon team that makes use of the trick will get to enjoy the benefits. "Team members can apparently get in on the action by stationing their Pokémon alongside the eggs and they'll all reap the defender rewards as long as the egg remains in power," the report added.

But be warned that Niantic is fully aware of the glitch and is monitoring players that will use the exploit. VG247 said the GO developer will deem the action as cheating that consequently will result to harsh punishment - swift banning from the game for those caught.

While placing an Egg on a Gym seems harmless, the trick disrupts the Pokémon GO balance gameplay that Niantic wants to maintain at most times, according to Comic Book.

"If you end up doing this you may very well find yourself without a Pokémon Go account in the future, Perma-banned by Niantic as retaliation for making a move to get rid of the pesky cheaters making the game more frustrating instead of fun for other players," the report said.

Apparently, Niantic has listed the Egg Glitch trick with high-offence cheatings like the use of GPS spoofing, bot players and third-party apps (customized Pokémon GO and tracking apps) so while the hack might be tempting, use while seriously minding of the banning risk.
