The late Joan Rivers was not included in the "In Memoriam" segment of the 2015 Oscars, two weeks after the comedy legend was also snubbed out of the tribute to stars at the Grammys.

Rivers was not one of those famed Hollywood actors since she opted to work behind the cameras such as writing and directing the "Rabbit Test" in 1978 and as dot matrix in "Spaceballs," however, she was one of the icons of the Academy Awards red carpet.

Melissa Rivers, the late "Fashion Police" host's daughter, accepted the "Best Spoken Word Album" trophy for her mother's "The Diary of a Mad Diva." It was Joan's first Grammy award, but was nominated in 1984 for the best comedy album with "What Becomes a Semi-Legend Most?"

"If my mother was here tonight, she would not only be honored and thrilled to win, she would most likely have [the trophy] copied and on the air on QVC by 11," said Melissa while accepting the award on stage during the 57th annual Grammy Awards that aired on CBS.

Neil R. Portrow, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences insisted that Joan was not snubbed.

"We lost over 300 folks in our industry this year, so it's a very difficult decision," Portnow told Entertainment Tonight. He told the publication that the segment typically includes 40 names and as much as possible, they try to represent multiple generations and genres.

The film industry has to take into account several movie-making staff as directors and actors the world has lost in 2014. But, Maya Angelou was included in the Memoriam, despite the fact that she only had the chance  of directing one film in the span of her career, the Billboard has noticed.
