"Stranger Things" Season 2 has not been officially confirmed yet, but it looks like one of the favorite characters Barbara is not returning in the new season. The possibility of Barb's demise even made her fans distraught.

As Barbara Holland (Shannon Purser) was seen almost dead in the Upside Down as she was dragged by Demogorgon, creators Matt and Ross Duffer spilled the beans that it is very unlikely to see her character returning in "Stranger Things" Season 2. However, the showrunners assured that her character will not be written out without any justice in the hypothetical season. Purser's character is one of the most popular characters in the series that her fans have started the hashtag #JusticeForBarb since the Season 1 finale.

"I can't see it happening" Matt told IGN. "But Barb will not be forgotten. We'll make sure there's some justice for Barb."

While talking to the publication, they also teased about the fate of the villain Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) in the supernatural horror TV series. Different from the fate of Barb in "Stranger Things" Season 2, there is a possibility that fans could see Brenner in the new season despite the monster's attack.

Meanwhile, it is no doubt that Purser's character as Barb has been an instant internet sensation. Despite that the show was her first acting stint and she only had a few lines, Purser's character stood out from the rest. While talking to Entertainment Online, Purser expressed her disbelief on the incredible response Barb has been receiving from fans.

Purser's character as Barb also gave birth to another hashtag  #WeAreAllBarb since the very beginning of the show. Definitely, the demise of Barb before "Stranger Things" Season 2 is something that her fans would not really thought of. Purser shared that fans even started a candlelit vigil for Barb on Facebook where about 1,000 RSVPs were listed.

"Stranger Things" is the television's biggest surprise sensation this summer. It has created a huge fan base since it aired on July 15. The Netflix's '80s set thriller features the characters, Joyce (Winona Ryder), Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Will (Noah Schnapp), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Chief Hopper (David Harbour) and more.

It is speculated that "Stranger Things" Season 2 will see more characters getting infected and the possibility that Will is alive and possessed by the Demogorgon. No further details about the new season have been announced.
