With the upcoming release of Intel's Kaby Lake processor, the launching date of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 has been reported to move in 2017 to give way to the inclusion of the said chipset.
With no official release date given by the tech giant, Surface Pro 5 is still surrounded with a lot of rumors and speculations regarding its official launching and set of specifications. The only concrete evidence that has made rounds recently and in the past few months is the company's display of teased surface devices in its 88 building. Aside from this, none has been confirmed by Microsoft.
Previously, the next Surface Pro generation was reported to be utilizing the current Skylake processors installed in the Surface Pro 4. But since Intel has been vocal about launching a new type of processor, Microsoft has been reported to adapt the changes in its upcoming laptop-tablet convertible.
But, another reason is also being pointed out for the delay. Since the second update for Window 10 was reported to be delayed until next year, its delay will affect the tablet's launching since most of the features of Surface Pro 5 would work well with the said update, PC Advisor reported.
Aside from the use of Kaby Lake, several specifications have been rumored to be included in the Surface Pro 5. The upcoming laptop-tablet convertible will have two types of screen resolutions: 2K and 4K display. The device would also come with either NVIDIA Pascal or AMD Polaris GPUs, Tech Times reported.
The report added that aside from the display, the device will be allowed for a 16 GB RAM upgrade. The USB type C, which has been gaining popularity for several months now, will also be included in the laptop-tablet convertible.
The report added that along with these specifications are price rumors. Since the Surface Pro 4 starts at £749, the next generation would likely be priced at the same level. Since no concrete information has been released by Microsoft, viewers are advised to take everything with a grain of salt. Details are expected to be out in the coming months during announcements or company events.
