WWE SummerSlam 2016 ended in controversy after Brock Lesnar defeated Randy Orton in the main event via TKO. The latest rumors suggest that the finish was the plan all along but it looked like Lesnar went overboard in busting up Orton.

The main event ended after The Beast mercilessly beat up The Viper with his fists and elbow, leaving Orton a bloody mess. Many fans thought that blading happened but Orton got busted up the hard way y Lesnar's sharp elbow. The big gash, which you can see below, looks like it did not come from blading.

According to Ringside News, the TKO victory for Lesnar was the planned finish but the WWE did not expect Orton to bleed a lot. It is noted that The Viper knew he would get busted open as the top officials wanted a little color to end a big event.

Shane McMahon, who is the commissioner of SmackDown, came to the ring to check on Orton but he ended up getting hit an F5. The report mentioned that the confrontation between Lesnar and Shane-O-Mac was also planned.

The end of SummerSlam was talked about on social media, something that the WWE wanted. However, it was very controversial since Orton was bleeding a lot and many fans were worried about his safety since Lesnar is a legitimate MMA fighter.

Even the superstars backstage were also worried about Orton since the top officials did not reveal to the locker room the finish of the main event. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), Chris Jericho got into a fight with Lesnar backstage.

Meltzer noted that Jericho was asking Michael Hayes if that finish was planned but he did not respond, prompting Y2J to say "That's bullshit." As Jericho uttered those words, Lesnar was coming in and thought that it was about his match.

The Beast reportedly called Jericho a "pussy" while another version of the story states that he said "shut up." The two legendary superstars got into a shoving and shouting match, which led to Triple H and Vince McMahon helping to break it up.

It is also mentioned that Orton assured Jericho that he knew that he will get busted the hard way. Nevertheless, the WWE got what it wanted but they should have been more vocal since their locker room is one tight unit.
