"Reply 1988" stars Lee Soo Kyung and Ryu Jun Yeol has joined the cast of Jung Ji-Woo's thriller film, "Silent Witness." It is a remake of the Chinese thriller of the same name, written and directed by Fei Xing.

Both stars will join previously announced actors Park Shin Hye, Choi Min-Sik and Park Hae Joon. "Reply 1988's" Lee has been cast to play the daughter of the financial magnate, while Ryu will play a character that holds an important key to solving the mystery. It is said that his character is not found in the original 2013 Chinese film.

"Director Jung Ji Woo's 'Witness of Silence' will star Ryu Jun Yeol and Lee Soo Kyung," a source told Soompi. "We are currently fine-tuning concrete plans for the film."

"Silent Witness" is a crime thriller film about an influential businessman's daughter who gets entangled in the murder case of her father's fiancee, an acclaimed singer. Veteran actor Choi is confirmed to portray the businessman, while "Doctors" actress will play the role of the daughter's lawyer.

With an intended released in South Korea in early 2017, filming for "Silent Witness" will reportedly begin sometime later this year. More details about the film will be revealed soon.

Ryu made his debut in a 2013 short film titled "Economic Love." He also appeared in the popular television series, KBS 2TV's "The Producers" and tvN's "Reply 1988."

Ryu landed his second lead role in MBC's "Lucky Romance" alongside actress Hwang Jung-Eum. In the 16-episode drama, he portrayed a 31-year-old man, Je Soo-Hoo, who is the owner and CEO of a game developer company, Zeze Factor.

Helmed by Kim Kyung-Hee, "Lucky Romance" centers on the romantic and comedic relationship of a 26-year-old attractive woman, Shim Bo-Nui (Hwang), who has blind faith in superstitions and fortune-tellings, and CEO Je Soo-Hoo (Ryu), who is a scientific and logical man.

Ryu will star next as Jae Sik in upcoming film "Taxi Driver" to be directed by Jang Hun, The Kpop Herald reported. The upcoming film, which also stars Song Kang Ho, Yu Hae Jin, and Thomas Kretschmann, is based on the true story of a Korean taxi driver, Kim Sa-Bok, who helped a German columnist, Jurgen Hinzpeter, cover the Gwangju Uprising on May 18-27, 1980 in Gwangju, South Korea.
