Some of the cast members of the medical drama "Doctors" that star Park Shin Hye have recently fulfilled a promise that they made to fans. Lee Sung Kyung and Yoon Kyun Sang both held a free fan event for hospital patients.
The romantic medical drama "Doctors" has been enjoying a steady rise in viewership ratings since it debuted in June. It has been one of the popular shows among other programs that airs in Korea during its Monday and Tuesday timeslot. The series is set to end its 20-episode run on Tuesday, Aug 23.
Prior the drama's last episode, cast members Sung Kyung and Kyun Sang both surprised young patients and their families when they gave free hugs in a surprise fan event, Soompi reported. The two Korean celebrities recently visited some of the patients at a children's hospital located in South Korea's Incheon area. The said event is said to be a fulfillment of a promise previously made by Sung Kyung.
Avid fans may recall the actress promising to give free hugs should the SBS drama surpass the 20 percent rating mark. Given the medical series' popularity, the show was able to reach a viewership share of 21.3 percent during episode 15, as indicated in the same report. The said episode aired on Aug. 8 that featured the romantic picnic date between Shin Hye and Kim Rae Won's characters.
Meanwhile, Sung Kyung is said to have come up with the idea to hold a meaningful fan event. The actress, along with co-star Kyun Sang, both planned the free hug event to show their support for the young patients. The two Korean celebrities also wanted to convey an encouraging action to help comfort some of the patient's families who may be going through a tough time.
In other news, Lee Jong Suk has recently displayed his close friendship with Shin Hye, Kyun Sang and Sung Kyung. The "W" actor had a snack cart sent to the SBS drama's set to support its cast and crew during the series' final filming activities, allkpop reported.
The actor previously starred with Shin Hye and Kyun Sang in the drama titled "Pinocchio." On the other hand, Jong Suk and Sung Kyung are both label mates under the entertainment agency, YG Entertainment.
