Microsoft has introduced a new rewards system that pays users to use its energy efficient and faster Edge browser.

If new reports are anything to go by, the tech giant Microsoft will pay users of Windows 10 to access the internet through the Microsoft Edge browser.

It is said that the browser will be more energy efficient, faster and better than Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers. Reports indicate that 75% of users of Windows 10 are not using the browser. The Microsoft Edge browser is packaged together with Windows 10.

The company wants to increase the number of users browsing the internet through Microsoft Edge. It will pay users through Microsoft Rewards that is a rebranded version of Bing Rewards, CNET reported.

The browser can deliver 36% to 53% more battery life while performing everyday tasks such as browsing internet and viewing videos on YouTube.

Microsoft Rewards, which is available in the United States only, offers points for using Bing and Edge and shopping at the Microsoft store.

People have to make Bing as their default search engine to get points in the rewards programme. Bing is a search engine operated and owned by the software company Microsoft.

They can trade points in for credits or vouchers to places such as Skype, Starbucks and Amazon. Furthermore, the company will monitor if users are using the browser for 30 hours per month, with every hour of usage leading to points for them.

To ensure that people are not cheating, the program will track signs such as mouse movements. However, it is not known how many points every hour of usage will collect.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the Microsoft will unveil the Surface Pro 5 next year.

Various reports claim that the upcoming Microsoft device will have a 2K resolution display. Furthermore,  a 4K Ultra HD variant is reportedly on the cards.

The top-end variant of the SP5 is expected to have 16 GB of RAM. Speculations are making the rounds that the Surface Pro 5 will run on Windows 10 (Redstone 2 update).

The device will reportedly come with an upgraded Surface Pen that will pack in a rechargeable battery. According to reports, the Surface Pro 5 will come with USB-C support and offer an improved battery. Also, the Microsoft device will house Kaby Lake processor, according to BGR.
