Newly-promoted club Dijon FCO (0-2-0, 0 points) will try to earn their first win in the 2016-2017 Ligue 1 season, but they will have to face current league leaders Olympique Lyonnais (2-0-0, 6 points) at their home ground of Stade Gaston Gérard this Saturday, Aug. 27.
Dijon dropped their first two games in the French top flight with a 0-1 loss to FC Nantes in their opener on Aug. 13 before succumbing to another 0-1 defeat in Week 2, this time in the hands of Europa League qualifiers Lille OSC on the road at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy last Saturday, via ESPN.
Lille's Senegalese midfielder Younousse Sankhare netted the lone goal in the match with three minutes left before full time to hand head coach Olivier Dall'Oglio's squad its second straight loss as the team remained winless in their debut in the domestic first division.
The visitors tried to stay in the fight and was able to keep it goalless in the first 87 minutes until the 26-year-old former France international broke the deadlock late in the game.
Dijon earned promotion to Ligue 1 by finishing as runners-up to AS Nancy in the Ligue 2 last term, where they earned 70 points in 38 games. The team is currently struggling to find form in the top-tier league.
Meanwhile, Lyon remained unbeaten after two games as it routed Stade Malherbe Caen, 2-0, at their home field of Stade des Lumières last Friday, as per USA Today.
No less than striker Alexandre Lacazette provided both goals for Les Gones with penalty kicks at the 31st and in the second half stoppage time to keep a perfect record for head coach Bruno Genesio's side.
It was the fifth goal in two games this season for the 25-year-old Lacazette, who is rumored to be a target of English Premier League club Arsenal late in this summer transfer window, as he netted a hat trick in their previous 3-0 win over Nancy in the opening day.
The predicted result is a 3-0 romp for Lyon.
