Perennial contenders AS Monaco FC (1-0-1, 4 points) will try to remain undefeated in the young 2016-2017 Ligue 1 season as they square off with four straight defending champions Paris Saint-Germain FC (2-0-0, 6 points) at their home stadium of Stade Louis II on Sunday, Aug. 28.

Monaco, who finished third in the French top flight's season-ending table last term, managed to nip lowly squad FC Nantes, 1-0, in their Week 2 fixture at the Stade de la Beaujoire - Louis Fonteneau last Saturday to score their first win this season after drawing with En Avant de Guingamp in their season opener, via ESPN.

The winning goal was scored at the 25th minute in the first half by Brazilian attacking midfielder Gabriel Boschilia via a left-footed shot to the top right corner of Nantes keeper Remy Riou following a free kick.

It was a good bounce back performance for head coach Leonardo Jardim's side, who struggled to pull away from lowly team Guingamp in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain remained a tough force in the French first division domestic competitions as they crushed newly-promoted side FC Metz, 3-0, at their home ground of Parc des Princes last Sunday to keep themselves perfect in two games this season, as per Daily Mail Online.

The newcomers were able to hold Les Parisiens to a goalless first half as both teams was only feeling each other out in the first 45 minutes.

However, the hosts began thumping their less illustrious visitors after the restart, starting with a goal from Brazilian winger Lucas Moura's right-footed shot from the right side of the box at the 52nd then followed up by a close range header from left back Layvin Kurzawa at the 67th to make it 2-0.

The game was sealed in injury time by substitute midfielder Marco Verratti who forced an own goal from Metz forward Gauthier Hein.

Another lopsided decision for PSG is expected as it snaps Monaco's unbeaten run to two games.

The predicted result is a 3-1 romp for Paris Saint-Germain.
