As is crucial in slasher shows, "Scream" Season 2 ended with a major plot twist and big murderer reveal. Caution: spoilers below.

In the "Scream" Season 2 finale, Emma (Willa Fitzgerald) discovers that Kieran (Amadeus Serafini) is actually the new Ghostface, taking after Piper (Amelia Rose Blair). In a chilling confrontation, Kieran revealed that he and Piper were dating before he met Emma and that he was just pretending to play Emma's boyfriend. After Emma and Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) killed Piper in Season 1, Kieran made it his mission to assume the Ghostface mantel and avenge Piper.

In the end, Kieran was caught. While in jail, he received a call from someone identified as Brandon James. This is where the chills set in - Brandon had been long presumed dead. In his conversation with Kieran, Brandon asked, "Who told you you could wear my mask?" This leaves a major cliffhanger for "Scream" and a potential plot for Season 3. Is Brandon back?

Speaking to TVLine co-showrunner Michael Gans revealed the reason for Brandon's call, saying "it's tied into the complete history and fabric of the town." If that's not any indicator for a potential "Scream" Season 3 story, we don't know what is.

What's more, Kieran is still alive which means anything can happen. As to what could happen to his character in the next season, Serafini revealed he doesn't know anything yet.

"It's funny not to know, to be back in that boat of not knowing. That's how they really push this show along, keeping us all in the dark," Serafini told The Hollywood Reporter. Much like the viewers, Serafini admitted that he was shocked to learn that Kieran would be unmasked as the killer.

"I thought I might be a sacrificial character (laughs) as most characters are on our show. I thought I would surely die," he said. "But I was really excited to be in the ranks of the killers in the franchise."

In the meantime, "Scream" Season 2 will air a two-hour "Scream" special in October in order to answer a lot of unanswered questions from the finale. There are rumors, however, that the special would serve as a wrap-up for the series, with a Season 3 renewal still up in the air.
