Ricochet is one of the best wrestlers in the world that is not signed with the WWE but it may change in 2017. According to the latest rumors, Ricochet has made his decision and all clues point to him being a WWE superstar.
The 27-year-old recently let his contract with Lucha Underground (LU) expire but he is not yet free to sign any deal with another company that has a United States television deal. According to Cageside Seats, Ricochet, who portrays Prince Puma, has to let the Season 3 of LU finish first before he can sign with the WWE.
The third season of the El Rey Network wrestling show will have 40 episodes and the first episode is going to air on September 7. The last episode of the season will likely be around mid-2017. LU has offered Ricochet an extension but he turned it down.
In a recent appearance on Jim Ross' The Ross Report podcast, Ricochet revealed that he has made his decision regarding his future in 2017. He did not specifically mention the WWE but all signs are pointing towards the biggest wrestling company in the world.
The LU star told Good Ol' JR that he would like to work for the WWE someday. He mentioned that he loves working for LU and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) but he already made a big decision. However, he just wants to make it suspense and did not reveal any more information.
"I think I've already made my decision, which one I want to do if that gives you some suspense, I guess. I think I've already made my mind up, like, which one I want to do. Definitely between now and 2017 some decisions are going to have to be made and stuff's going to have to happen, so I'm just hoping for the best," Ricochet said.
It should be noted that some of the WWE superstars he was talking about in the podcast include Apollo Crews and Tessa Blanchard. Crews was Ricochet's roommate during their days on the independent circuit while Blanchard is his real-life girlfriend.
Ricochet also recently set the internet on fire with his great display with Will Ospreay in their Best of Super Juniors tournament match at NJPW. He has also earned the praise of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson which means the WWE certainly has eyes on him
