After unveiling the return of the Cruiserweight division and its championship belt, WWE is teasing yet another comeback of undoubtedly the most blood-tainted championship belt in sports entertainment history.
In a presentation on the WWE Network, wrestling legends Mick Foley, Rob Van Dam and Raven discussed the rich history of the Hardcore title and why it was unique from other championship belts in the WWE.
Vince McMahon first introduced the Hardcore title in 1998 with Foley then in his Mankind gimmick as the first holder of the championship belt.
The Hardcore title was supposed to be a pun on Foley's reputation as a hardcore wrestler but as his popularity shot up so did the prestige of the Hardcore championship.
Crash Holly even gave the title a more bad-ass reputation after introducing the 24/7 rule, in which the title holder has to defend the title anytime and anywhere as long as a referee was present.
While the WWE hasn't announced anything about a potential comeback of the Hardcore championship, the video is viewed by many fans and pundits as a teaser for its latest reincarnation. The only question remains is which WWE brand will be the home of the Hardcore title, will it be Raw or Smackdown?
-This week's Monday Night Raw recorded a slight increase in viewership after gaining 3.413 million viewers, which is slightly up from last week's 3.315 million viewers the night after SummerSlam, according to Marc Middleton of Lords of Pain.
Raw recorded 3.392 million viewers in the first hour, 3.438 million viewers in the second, and 3.409 million for the third hour. The final 30 minutes of the show featured Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins vs. Big Cass vs. Roman Reigns fatal four-way match for the vacant WWE Universal title.
Raw was no.1 in the 18-49 demographic and third just behind Major Crimes and Rizzolli & Isles for the night.
