The two rumored HTC handsets will carry a new name. People familiar with the company's plans said that HTC-built handsets will come to the market under different brand name.

It is not known what branding the software company may use. The tech company has partnered with the Huawei, HTC, LG and Samsung to sell tablets as well as smartphones showcasing its newest software throughout the life of the Nexus program.

It is said that the two upcoming devices will put the Google brand center and front, dropping the HTC name completely.

The two forthcoming Google handsets will feature extra software and a tweaked interface. This will differentiate the new devices in terms of software experience from earlier years' Nexus handsets.

Speculations are making the rounds that Google will offer the Sailfish in 64 GB and 32 GB storage configurations and the higher-end Marlin will come in 128 GB, 64 GB and 32 GB internal storage options.

Nexus One, the company's first Nexus-branded phone, was unveiled in 2009 and was built by HTC. The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P were launched in 2015 and are the present handsets under the company's Nexus line and will probably be the last ones to carry the Nexus brand name.

The Cupertino-based company Apple will unveil the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus together with the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 at an event on September 7, 2016. Some reports claim that the new iPhones can be in short supply at release.

After the Cupertino-based company releases the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7, Google will throw its newest smartphones up against Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and new iPhones. The upcoming smartphones will be released in late September or early October.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the price of the two devices will be higher than Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, according to a BGR report. Sailfish will cost around $450. At present, the 32 GB Nexus 5X sells for $399 on the Google Store.

Marlin is expected to cost around $599 that is $100 more than the present 32 GB Nexus 6P smartphone that sells for $499 on the Google Store.
