"Game of Thrones" Season 7 has added a fresh face to its cast. Oscar-winning veteran actor Jim Braodbent has been roped in for a role in the HBO series upcoming season.

Broadbent, who is popular for his recurring role of Horace Slughorn in the "Harry Potter" franchise, will now be seen in the penultimate season of the hit fantasy series, Entertainment Weekly reported. The British actor credit also include the films like "Time Bandits," "Brazil" and "Bridget Jones Diary" along with Emmy-nominated title role in the series "Longford."

Nothing much is known about Braodbent's character other than the fact that his role is "significant." It seems as of now that the viewers of the show will have to wait to find out how he will fit into Westeros.

Although some casting description, including those of a warrior, priest and merchant, was leaked recently, it is difficult to ascertain what role will actually be assigned to the British actor. Although it seems possible that he end up playing the role of the priest, it is being highly speculated that he will actually play a much significant role of Maester Marwayn. The character features in not only Samwell's adventures at the Citadel, but also intersects with Daenerys's plot in George R.R. Martin's books.

In related news, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 will be arriving a bit late in the summer of 2017, quite contrary to its usual spring debut. It will consist of seven episodes, reduced from the show's usual 10.

"Now that winter has arrived on "Game of Thrones," executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing," E! News quoted Carter Bloys, president of HBO programming, as saying. "Instead of the show's traditional spring debut, we're moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule."

The filming of the penultimate season will soon begin in Northern Ireland. Apart from the usual locations, the cast and crew are also expected to head to some new locations in Spain this time.
