"Stranger Things" Season 2 will officially be back, and its trailer is already spawning speculation about what fans can expect in the coming season.

On Wednesday, Netflix made an official announcement of summer streaming second season of sensation "Stranger Things".

The renewal for the 1980s-set supernatural dramar from newcomers Ross Duffer and Matt was widely expected after the series, Winona Ryder the starring, debuted to rave reviews and plenty of social buzz in mid-July. As the creators approach the next installment of the drama now, executive producer Shawn Levy says the focus is on developing the environment created in season one while staying true to the characters viewers grew to know and love, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Levy told THR that they have mapped out the season and they certainly know all of their big moves and our big ideas. He added that it is very much in process as far as the writing goes. He however refused to be more specific as far as how many episodes he have already read.

The executive producer who via his production banner 21 Laps Entertainment helped bring the binge-worthy series to Netflix added that the producers were very conscious of not raising scale at the expense of character, so they were just really policing themselves rigorously to root every scene, every episode in the characters that fans love.

"Stranger Things" fans might also expect to see some famous faces in the second season. But they should not expect them to be cast just because the Duffer Brothers are enamored of their star power.

According to USA Today, Stranger's kid stars say they are also in the dark but that did not stop them from theorizing what is next.

"Certain actors that you have definitely came across have raised their hand with real interest to be a part of it," Shawn Levy says of the drama's second season.

When Levy was asked if the new characters joining the series have been cast before, he said they are characters that they have already conceived but none of them have been completely, officially cast.

He confirmed that most of the same people from the season-one writers' room have been retained in the upcoming season. Writers such as Justin Doble and Jessie Nickson will still be involved in "Stranger Things" Season 2.

The second series of Stranger Things will be released in 2017.
