Niantic is slowly unbanning banned players who used Pokémon GO cheats and hacks in the past but not all of them as players report receiving an email from the developer.

In the past few weeks, Niantic has started to hand out permanent bans for those players who were found guilty of cheating through Pokémon GO. Pokémon GO hacks have been rampant and some players were abusing the said cheats which led to them being permanently banned from the game.

Fortunately, Niantic might have had a change of heart as it started to unban players in the past few days. Some users have posted the email they received from Niantic that they could have been wrongly banned by the developer and is giving them a chance to play again.

Pokémon Go players who used certain types of cheats should be aware that not all of the accounts are being unbanned, BGR has learned. There are some players who, Niantic believes, were not aware that they were cheating in the first place through third-party apps and they are the ones who are being targeted for the unbans.

Interestingly, some Reddit users are posting that they were unbanned even though they were clearly using GPS spoofing and bots throughout the weeks. Players who used Pokémon GO hacks, cheats and bots are now hoping that their accounts will be unbanned by Niantic soon.

There are several third-party apps that do not directly help the player to cheat but enhance their gameplay. Niantic implemented the new Nearby and Sightings feature to help Pokémon Go players stay away from hacks and they are the subject to the unban wave, TechCrunch reported.

Niantic is still unclear on the criteria on how they choose which banned players get to be unbanned. Those who are banned wrongly can still place their appeals on the Niantic Pokémon GO support page and state their defense.

Pokémon GO bots, hacks and cheats are still active as players still find ways to play the game without really going out of their home. Unbanned accounts should be thankful and avoid cheating again to continue their exploits.
