Amid reports that “Marco Polo” executives are looking for a new home for Season 3 of the TV series, John Fusco, creator of the show, said in an article that the show deserves at least another season.

Until now, people behind "Marco Polo" are still in limbo as to the status of their series if it would be renewed, cancelled or delayed. As a result, there is much speculation as to the fate of the series and its stars, mainly actor Benedict Wong who plays Kublai Khan, reported Ecumenicalnews.

Among the reasons behind the rumors swirling about the fate of his character is that Wong would also appear in “Doctor Strange,” an upcoming Marvel movie. His dividing his time to both productions is seen as one possible reason behind the speculations that his character would be killed and another character given focus.

Among the reasons why Fusco cited why “Marco Polo” deserved one more season is the series is breaking barriers insofar as Hollywood’s lack of diversity is concerned. He cited some of the actors of the series as proof that it has a vast and authentic pool of ethnically diverse talents.

The list includes Benedict Wong, Joan Chen, Michelle Yeoh, Tom Wu, Olivia Cheng, Remy Hii, Uli Latekefu, Mahesh Jadu, Claudia Kim, Zhu Zhu, Rick Yune, Chin Han, Ron Yuan and Leonard Wu, according to Fusco’s article on Deadline. His article comes at a time that there is criticism of Hollywood “whitewashing” roles for Asians such as the Chinese warrior that Matt Damon portrayed in “The Great Wall.”
