According to iDigital Times, "Overwatch" players who want to benefit from the free "Overwatch" weekend will have a complete "Overwatch"experience: they can earn Loot Boxes, level up and unlock different customization options in the Hero Gallery. "Overwatch" is Blizzard's popular team-based shooter game.

Good news, if the players decide to buy "Overwatch: Origins Edition" after the free console weekend is over, they will keep any progress they will have made. That means their levels, unlocked skins and more will stay with their account.

Xbox One owners will have to acquire an Xbox Live Gold membership to join in on the free "Overwatch" fun. It is not a must for PlayStation 4 owners to be a current PlayStation Plus member to try the game out, though any PS4 owner who plans to continue playing "Overwatch" will have to pay for PlayStation Plus.

Fan can activate a free 14-day PlayStation Plus trial here, or they may get a few days free just for the duration of the free console weekend.

The free period will commence on Sept. 9 at 11:00 a.m. PT (18:00 UTC) and come to an end on Sept. 12 at 4:00 p.m. PT (23:00 UTC) in all gameplay regions for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners, Engadget reported.
