Sony has just announced their new FDR-X3000R camera that can capture 4K video with flawless quality through the help of the optical image stabilization (OIS) technology.

Most of Sony's handicam models have the Balanced Optical SteadyShot technology and the new Sony FDR-X3000R is no exception. Sony's B.O.SS system allows the new camera to be used as an action cam or a possible proxy for a GoPro camera by attaching it onto a helmet.

Sony's FDR-X3000R features the Exmor R CMOS sensor with 8.2 megapixels and the BIONZ X processor which is also found in the company's a7 camera range, Cinema5D has learned. Another great spec is the new Zeiss Tessar lens which has an aperture of as low as f/2.8 and can still be adjusted.

Users can adjust the aperture of the camera lens between f=17mm, f=23mm and f=32mm for the different in-camera settings. It can also be used to zoom for up to three times.

What makes the Sony FDR-X3000R all the better is that it can shoot 4K up to 60 meters underwater without losing quality or its life, Expert Reviews reported. The multicoated Zeiss lens also means that distortion would not be a problem regardless of the environment and such.

Another nifty feature is that the camera now has several red recording LEDs to notify the user whether the device is already recording. It has a LED light on the rear, front and at the top so that users will not be confused with the recording status.

The new Finger Grip Sony FDR-X3000R accessory also helps in making 4K video capture easier. It feels more natural and will not strain the wrist even if the user records for hours compared to the previous type of grips available.

4K video timelapses are now made possible in the new Sony FDR-X3000R as the previous action cameras did not include the much needed feature. It also features the new Action Cam Movie Creator app to help users easily edit their captured videos without having to learn the complicated post-production techniques commonly used by video editors in the professional industry.
