"The Vampire Diaries" is bidding its final farewell with an expectation to return in a few months. Elena Gilberts' return will leave many fans with questions in minds while Matt Donovan is rumored to be Sybil's biological father who is interested in Stefan Salvatore.

Nina Dobrev, the actress who brought Elena to life since the show's inception, left the series just after season 6. This contributed to a decrease in viewership and a general belief of the show coming to an end soon was experienced. Well, after a season without Elena, the network has decided to end the supernatural series.

Julie Plec the creator of the series had said that she wanted Dobrev to come back for the final season. It is reportedly that Dobrev will appear as Elena for a last season. However, "The Vampire Diaries" did jump-start her acting career. There have been no confirmations of Dobrev's anticipated return so far.

According to IMDb page, the actress made a post which show that Dobrev is set to return for an episode in season 8 as her original character. It can be remembered that the Bulgarian beauty also revealed a character named Katherine. Fans should however take this news with less impact since the listing is not entirely reliable.

In the "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, the powerful supernatural creature is a female who usually gets what she wants. It is rumored that when Sybil comes to town, she will decide that she wants Stefan. The reason is been, Sybil can sense the Ripper within him. In addition, Sybil might end up destroying the relationship of Stefan and Caroline (Candice King) who are finally reconciling in the season finale. Fans are however, assured that "Steroline" will get to have some happiness, TV Guide reported.

In addition to Gilberts' return, other faces in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 include Georgie (Allison Scagliotti), a research intern that is interested in her field because of her own dark past. There is also Seline (Kristen Gutoski) and Peter Maxwell (Joel Gretsch) who is simply described as a blue-collar worker who meets up with the child he abandoned. The child is speculated to be Matt Donovan.

The first three episodes' title have been revealed, episode 1 is titled "Hello, Brother," suggesting that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) may be reuniting. The second episode is reportedly titled "Today Will Be Different," and the third, "You Decided That I Was Worth Saving." All three lines were taken from the first season.

"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere on Oct. 21 on The CW.
