Alberto Del Rio will once again leave the WWE scene following reports that the Hispanic star has picked up the opt-out clause in his contract. Also, Triple H made a surprise return to Monday Night Raw where he got involved in the Fatal Four-Way match for the Universal title.

Del Rio’s contract was good until October though his decision to leave the WWE doesn’t come as a surprise. After returning big at WWE Hell in a Cell last year, he hasn’t exactly gotten the right push to figure prominently in the ranks.

The AAA champion debuted in style, winning the United States title from John Cena who was set to take a leave of absence, USA Today reported. Moving forward, Del Rio found himself embroiled in a faction (“League of Nations”) and never had that one big push he was hoping for.

Del Rio is coming off a suspension following a wellness policy violation, something that all the more padded his likely exit. Regardless, he is not expected to be unemployed for long.

With his stock, Del Rio is drawing interest from other promotions. That includes Lucha Underground, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and TNA, Wrestlingnews.co reported. It remains to be seen which group Del Rio could end up with.

On the other hand, Triple H may have planted the seeds of a much-awaited mentor vs. student match which could take place at Wrestlemania 33. The WWE COO was last seen at Wrestlemania 32 but made his return felt when he went after Roman Reigns and then backstabbed Seth Rollins with respective ‘pedigrees’.

Triple H’s move is seen as part of molding Rollins into a baby-face persona, something that is likely to kick off on the Sept. 5 edition of Raw. Rollins is lined up in a couple of live events against Owens though no title changes are expected at least until WWE Backlash this coming Sunday.

The WWE will be holding two live events. One will be in London and the other in the Philippines. Both will see Owens defend his title against Rollins and Sami Zayn.

Owens will likely defend the title as well at WWE Backlash with his official opponents likely to be announced at Raw later.
