Kickass Torrents is back in business in the guise of another site Katcr.to. This new website has access to the extensive database of the original Kickass Torrents.

Torrent fans can access their shared files and other new torrents through this new site. This site has not caught the eye of the legal department of the United States till now, so it is functioning smoothly, much to the delight of the torrent lovers.

Numerous mirror sites of Kickass Torrents have already been served with legal notices and taken down. It remains to be seen if the new mirror site Katcr.to will have the same fate or not.

Katcr.to is witnessing a huge surge in traffic as it is not a spam site. Torrent fans and other users can differentiate spam sites from authentic sites quite easily. Any spam site will ask the users to enter their personal and/or financial information whereas an authentic website will never do that.

After the demise of the number one torrent website in the world, Kickass Torrents, the torrent fans started looking for alternatives. They shifted to The Pirate Bay and Extra Torrents. Unfortunately, both these websites are plagued with their own legal issues and it remains to be seen how long they remain alive.

In an interview with Torrent Freak, The Pirate Bay team member Spud17 said that TPB is as important today as it was yesterday. The role TPB in being "the galaxy's most resilient torrent site will continue for the foreseeable future," the member pointed out.

"Sure, TPB has its flaws and glitches but it's still the go-to site for all our media needs," Spud17 added. "And I can see TPB still being around in 20 or 30 years time, even if the technology changes."

The Pirate Bay is facing the flak because its service provider CloudFlare is facing a lawsuit, according to the same publication. It is also being said that CloudFlare is assisting numerous terrorist organisations as well, which does not bode very well for the service provider.
