Is Jake Johnson exiting "New Girl" to focus on other projects? It appears that the actor's busy schedule might cause a lot of conflict with filming.

Johnson was recently confirmed to join Tom Cruise in a reboot of "The Mummy." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson is playing a member of the military and will be working closely with Cruise's character.

The actor drew a lot of praise for his appearance in "Jurassic World" where he provided a good chunk of the movie's comic relief. It's expected that Johnson will continue to tickle viewer's funny bones in "The Mummy" reboot.

Aside from his movie roles, Johnson is also expanding his film portfolio by co-writing the film "Digging for Fire," which starred Brie Larson and Anna Kendrick.

Johnson's movie commitments put a big question mark on his position in "New Girl" Season 6 and fans are not worried that he might put off reprising his role as Jess' on again, off again love interest Nick.

Fortunately, Johnson himself cleared out the rumors. He posted on Twitter, "Of course I'm staying on ['New Girl']. I want to see what happens."

As a matter of fact, Johnson has taken an expanded role in the series. He made his directing debut in "New Girl" Season 5, paving the way for co-star Zooey Deschanel to do the same in season 6.

"I was able to truly watch my costars and the guest stars' performances in a way that I don't get to as an actor, which was really fun," Johnson told EW about his experience.

Meanwhile, Megan Fox is reprising her role as Reagan in Season 6. Reagan was a temporary roomie and later became Nick's love interest. Although Reagan and Nick are happy together, this doesn't necessarily mean that Jess and Nick are endgame and they will still find themselves in each other's arms soon.

"I've been trying to move them both in that direction, and what this finale does is have them both take big steps forward in that way," showrunner Liz Meriweather told EW. "Next year, the door is definitely open, and Jess is probably standing in the doorway."

Looks like it's Nick's lucky year for love.
