The advantages and disadvantages of acquiring the PlayStation 4 Pro on launch day have been revealed. Enthusiasts weigh in if they should acquire the latest gaming console or not.

Writer Matt Peckham wrote on Time that enthusiasts and newbies should consider all of the facts first before they purchase the latest Sony gaming console. It has twice the performance of the original PS4 console and it will have a few new features too. He also said that it will be available in Nov. 10, and priced at $399, which costs more than the original one when it was first launched.

Peckham said that the latest Sony console is not meant to be the next-generation gaming one. This is just a response to a shift in display technology, which is 4K gaming. There should be a few games already that have the 4K technology feature, but it will only play the same.

The writer said that the console is only visually innovative. He also said that the majority of the gamers in this era no longer think of visuals as innovation these days.

The PS4 Pro does have its perks, Peckham wrote. Aside from the visual improvements, the PS4 Pro compatible games will perform the same as the ones before them. PS4 owners will still enjoy the same games the PS4 Pro owners will get, since the visual enhancement will only be an option.

Peckham said that if enthusiasts want to purchase the latest gaming console and enjoy the visual enhancement, they will also have to purchase a 4K TV. The issue here is that 4K TVs nowadays are very expensive. 4K resolution works a lot better on larger screens, which are not cheap unlike the 40 inch ones.

Peckham said that the Ultra HD Blu-Ray player in the PS4 Pro is not just a cost-saving measure. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Shawn Layden told him in an interview that the current generation is all about streaming. The gaming console manufacturer is not including the 4K Blu-ray, since most of the masses are into streaming nowadays than purchasing physical copies.

Senior Editor and gaming enthusiast Jessica Conditt told Engadget in an interview that she will purchase a PS4 Pro due to two reasons. The first reason is that she already has a PS4, and she is already happy with it. Its performance is already satisfactory for her, and she felt that it is not the time for her to upgrade yet.

Another reason that Conditt will not purchase the new gaming console is that she does not have a 4K television. The console manufacturer said that it will benefit the ones who do not have it. She felt that the gaming console will perform its full potential if it is connected to a 4K TV.

Managing editor Matt Brian told the publication that he will purchase the PS4 Pro, but not on launch day. The lack of UHD Blu-ray support does not bother him too, since he mostly streams movies recently.
