In August, NBC announced the cancellation of the police procedural fantasy series following "Grimm" Season 6. However, fans did not receive the news lightly as they started calling out a petition to continue the show.

One fan named Rebekka Hay from Germany called out on NBC through an online petition that has reached 4,660 signatures against its target of 5,000.  She aimed at letting NBC know that many fans are supporting the TV series, and they still wish to see many seasons after "Grimm" Season 6.

"The majority of the fans feel that the story cannot end yet, Hay wrote in a petition on Change.Org. "There is so much more potential and that it would be a wasted opportunity. Many fans feared this was coming, as NBC changed the weekly air date to the infamous Friday night death slot."

Fans will see 13 episodes of "Grimm" Season 6, where they will also witness a battle between Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) and Captain Seasn Renanrd (Sasha Roiz), according to Variety. The new season will be different because its episodes were reduced compared to its usual 22 episodes in the last five seasons.

In the new season, viewers will see Nick, facing the challenge of protecting Portland from Capt. Renard and shielding his loved ones, including his child with Adalind (Claire Coffee).  Eve (Bitsie Tulloch) will face an identity crisis, while Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) will struggle to bring a child into the real world.  Russell Hornsby and Reggie Lee also appear in Season 6.

Another fan has started an online petition that aims at calling the attention of TNT to pick up the show following NBC's cancellation of the series after "Grimm" Season 6. The petition that has a target of raising 200 supporters already gathered 154 supporters.  The petition was written by the fans, who stated that "Grimm" is the best show in the universe and it deserves at least 10 seasons.

"Grimm" was launched in 2011 with its first airing having an average viewers of 6.3 million. Last season, it garnered almost 6 million viewers. The show's timeslot has changed from Mondays to Fridays to Tuesdays which fans say affected the number of viewers. Since Season 3, the show maintained its Friday timeslot.

NBC has not responded to the petitions of renewing the show after "Grim" Season 6 yet. The last season will return on Jan. 6, 2017. Check out the cast's interview at the Comic-Con 2016:
