Even fellow celebrities were starstruck with “Descendants of the Sun” actor Song Joong-ki when he attended the 11th Seoul Drama Award on Sept. 8.

One of them is 29-year-old Singaporean actress Rebecca Lim who got an acting award. She told the Straits Times that when her friends learned Song Joong-ki was attending the award ceremony, they texted her and asked her to take photos with the Hallyu actor.

Lim was not sure she could comply with her friends’ request because Song Joong-ki was seated in the front row and she was right behind the South Korean actor. She eventually got the photo opportunity even as she admits feeling surreal since she binge-watched “Descendants of the Sun” from start to finish four days before the awards night. She found the story very fast-paced and to-the-point, but with unexpected twists.

Lim, who won the Asian Star Prize for her performance as a bar hostess in “The Journey: Our Homeland,” a period drama aired over Channel 8 in Singapore, shared the prize with Anthony Wong of Hong Kong, Mina Fujii of Japan and Jasper Liu of Taiwan. She recalled Wong’s 2002 movie, “Internal Affairs” was a huge hit when she was still a student.

Two days after the awards night, KBS2’s “Entertainment Weekly” aired behind-the-scenes footage of the event, including a brief interview with Song Joong-ki who explained his short hair cut to the movie he is filming, although he admitted it felt awkward.
