The Kaby Lake processor is proven to be more efficient and more powerful than the previous Intel Sky Lake chip found in the previous Surface model. Because of this, Microsoft's upcoming Surface Pro 5 is rumored to run this newest Intel processor.

According to iTech Post, Intel's featured processor is 12 percent faster than the Sky Lake based on productivity, and 19 percent faster with regards to its predecessor's web connectivity performance.

Based on reports, the said Intel chipset is also reportedly 20-30 percent better performing on graphics with HD Graphics 620. Its graphics performance can be compared to NVIDIA's dedicated GPU for laptop, the GeForce 920 M, which is a great deal of improvement for the user, making it not only highly competitive in the office working environment but also a very good option for gaming.

Aside from the new chipset fitting for gaming experience, it will also boast increased power and performance in video streaming as it supports 4K resolution video display.

4K Ultra HD display is one of the leading display technologies of today, which Microsoft plans to incorporate into the Microsoft Surface Pro 5, giving it more graphical prowess than its competitors.

More so, this new Intel chipset is expected to debut the HEVC Main10 video encoders that is capable of streaming 4K videos smoothly, with frame rates that are as high as 60 fps by consuming as low as 3.2 watts of power.

Furthermore, the Kaby Lake processor will also aid the device's battery efficiency, giving the user more time to enjoy multiple applications running on the device. The Surface Pro 5 will also come with 16GB of RAM, which is more than enough for a standard user. Its cameras are rumored to come with 8 MP (front) and 16 MP (rear) resolutions, and it will be equipped with a USB-C support, which will also be possible with the Kaby Lake, because of its low power consumption.

Based on reports, Microsoft's Surface Pro 5 will also have an upgraded Surface Pen accessory, with a rechargeable battery that can be wirelessly charged.

With Microsoft now offering refurbished units of the Surface Book and Microsoft Surface Pro 4 in discounted prices, it may be possible that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 will be revealed soon, following the rumor that it will come out sometime in 2017.
