South Korean actor Park Hae Jin's charitable contributions have earned him the nickname "Donation Angel." The 33-year-old Hallyu star has been revealed to have given a large amount of money to various charities through consistent donations for the past six years.

Speaking before a group of local reporters on Sept. 13, Tuesday, Park's agency, Mountain Movement, revealed that the "Cheese in the Trap" star has donated a total of 1.7 billion won ($1.5 million) in various local and international charities, Soompi reported. The label added Park has intermittently made contributions since 2011.

Park also took part in different community services and hosted several charity events. His endeavors have been coordinated towards helping child cancer foundations and children's education.

In Korea alone, Park has made incalculable donations estimated at 1.1 billion won ($978,000) to various charities and associations, including the Sewol Ferry Disaster Groups and the Children's Rehabilitation Hospital. In Shanghai, China, he keeps on supporting children's welfare center by taking an interest in a few outreach activities.

The "My Love from the Star" actor also donated tons of school supplies and other useful merchandise. Hence, he was given a "Donation Angel" epithet in the entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Park is set to make his big-screen comeback in summer 2017 with the film adaptation of Soon Ggi's "Cheese in the Trap." He is set to reprise the role of a mysterious college student, Yoo Jung, who secretly harbors a dark side to his personality.

In a sit-down interview with Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper, as cited by All Kpop, Park admitted that it was difficult for him to pick the same character once more. Despite the risk of being screwed over the same image, he chose to accept it due to his affection towards the project and the character.

"Honestly, after the drama ended, I did not want to do anything," Park revealed. "I experienced a rough patch [after the drama], but I still have lingering feelings toward the character named 'Yoo Jung.'"
