Cumberbatch, who plays the lead Sherlock Holmes, talked about the darkness in "Sherlock Holmes" Season 4. The new season, which is based on the stories of Doyle's originals will feature the dynamics between Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman).

"Myopically dark," Cumberbatch told Collider about Season 4. "You're talking about the end of the universe darkness. You can't see in front of you and would walk into everything dark."

The latest promotional image of "Sherlock Holmes" Season 4 has been recently released by BBC. The image seems to prove that these two characters are back on track and are going to deal a different level of darkness in the new season. The next season is labeled darker than what viewers had seen the previous years.

With only a few months before Season 4 rolls on BBC, fans of the TV series in the United States are waiting when the new season will be streaming on Netflix. Although BBC has not gave any details yet, it looks like Season 4 will be available on the streaming service in the U.S. around June 2017 as it was made available the same month in the previous years, according to Netflix Life.

"Sherlock Holmes" Season 4 will see the evolution of Holmes from being sociopathic, amoral and work-obsessed into someone who works better in interacting with people. Holmes will evolved with improvement in his personal life.

The next season will feature the new villain Culverton Smith (Toby Jones) who is deemed as the darkest villain the TV series had. As what co-creator Steven Moffat labeled Smith, he is the purest evil that even Holmes is appalled by him.

"Sherlock Holmes" Season 4 will be written by Moffat and Steven Gatiss featuring three episodes. It is likely to return in January 2017. Check out the "Sherlock Holmes" Season 4 teaser:
