TorrentHound has decided to shut down its popular torrent site voluntarily. The shutdown follows the likes of Torrentz and KickassTorrents which went offline this year. With this, three of the ten most visited torrent sites at the beginning of the year are now offline.

In a one-word message to TorrentFreak, TorrentHound's founder said "Finito", which translates to "finished," indicating the website's shutdown. The torrent website was founded back in 2007 and had been around for nearly ten years before its founder took the decision to shut it down.

According to TorrentFreak, the TorrentHound website was around for quite some time now with millions of visitors per month. The site even made it to the top 10 torrent sites in terms of visits though it never reached the status of giants such as The Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents, and Torrentz.eu.

TorrentHound founder added a detailed statement on the shutdown to the publication and said, "It is a combination of less traffic, less revenue and our bills piling up." He added that the constant anti-piracy agents visit was not worth the headache anymore.

The anti-piracy holders had no trouble finding the site as the TorrentHound site had been the target of various industry over the years. As a result of the complaints, the site ended up getting blocked in several countries.

TorrentHound joins Torrentz and KickassTorrents, which also were shutdown due to copyright issues. Kickass Torrents was shut down after the arrest of its alleged founder Artem Vaulin in Poland, this means that three sites from the top 10 most-visited torrent sites, are now gone, Gadgets reported.

The most popular torrent website, The Pirate Bay can be seen as the only exception to the bunch as it has kept its strength despite past hits. Several clone and other mirror sites have tried to keep the name of other torrent sites alive but withered over time.

Neither TorrentHound nor Torrentz have commented in detail on their surprise shutdowns. The fact that they followed shortly after KickassTorrents' alleged operators were inducted by the U.S. Department of Justice, may not be a total coincidence.

Prior to its exit, TorrentHound left an obituary with links to "not terrible places left for torrents" on its current homepage. This seems as if TorrentHound was not facing any concrete legal pressure and the move appears voluntary, report said.
