"Parks and Receation," a series that lasted seven seasons on NBC, ended by bringing to life a portion of the "Six Feet Under" playbook.
Here the highlights of the finale.
- Leslie Knope played by Amy Poehler became the governor of Indiana, made more especial by the support and presence of husband Ben, portrayed by Adam Scott.
- Andy by Chris Pratt and April by Aubrey Plaza have two children, though April was against the whole idea of raising offsprings.
- Leslie, who was once intimidated, becomes president and gives Ron Swanson, played by Nick Offerman, a park to manage.
- Tom portrayed by Aziz Ansari loses every penny he had, but gains it all back through publishing "Failure: An American Success Story," a book that aimed to teach people how to become rich.
- Donna became a real estate agent in Seattle, collecting diamond watches.
- Gerry by Jim O'Heir dies at 100 after serving Pawnee all his life.
"Parks and Recreation" was never about irony and cynicism, but of sweetness and optimism. Although the series had its quirks, Leslie and her teammates always made the right decision, showed one another that "caring for others" is possible and important and that everything will work out fine, eventually. Even the character of April, who is supposed to be pessimistic, was kind-hearted deep down.
The finale, obviously, was not made for those who are not die-hard fans; it was for the tiny population that made it possible for the show to last seven seasons when NBC was always threatening to end it. The network that does not have a hit comedy series on air currently, chose to rest the show with love and dignity.
