The Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne joins the cast of "Thomas the Tank Engine" and will play as a transgender woman in another film.

After winning as Best Actor at the recently concluded Oscars, Eddie Redmayne now play a role on the film "Thomas the Tank Engine," according to Radio Times.

The British actor will be voicing another engine named Ryan for a "Thomas and Friends" DVD which is called Sodor's "Legend Of The Lost Treasure."

"I grew up loving to watch Thomas and his pals getting caught up in unexpected and mischievous adventures. I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and what fun it was! I have never voiced an animated character before and I had a complete blast!" said Redmayne.

The film "Thomas the Tank Engine" is a story that will focus friendship, loyalty, betrayal where Thomas is at the center of the actions.

Meanwhile, aside from joining the cast in "Thomas the Tank Engine" Redmayne will also play the role as a transgender woman.

The News reported that in another film, Redmayne will play the role as Danish painter born Einer Wegener, which is the first people who undergo "sexual reassignment surgery" in the 1930s.

The said movie focus on Wegener life and the love story between his wife Gerda Gootlieb, who pretended to be Wegener's sister after his transition, but the couple remained in love until their deaths.

Eddie Redmayne won his first Academy Awards on Feb. 22 Sunday for his role of Stephen Hawking's "The Theory of Everything," where the said actor dedicated his trophy to people battling with ALS.
