"Percy Jackson" was originally set out to be one of those big book-to-movie adaptations, much like "Harry Potter" and "Hunger Games," among others; however, a third movie is officially out of the table.

Lead actor Logan Lerman revealed that "Percy Jackson 3" is not happening. "It's been a great experience for me," Lerman told MTV. "It's opened up a lot of doors for me, but I don't think it's happening."

"Percy Jackson 3" would've been based on "Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse," the third book in the series written by Rick Riordan, wherein the story centers on the dangerous quest Percy and his friends take on to save his friend Annabeth and Greek goddess Artemis, both of whom have been kidnapped.

If the original filming schedule were followed, the third movie would've been out sometime in 2015 or 2016.

However, it appears there's a chance fans could see "Percy Jackson" in a different, smaller platform. There are rumors that the franchise would continue in a TV series format. The CW is reportedly helming the series.

According to Chatt Sports Net, The CW is planning to do a top to bottom reboot of the "Percy Jackson" franchise, and is planning to bring in a new cast to appear in the TV series. A budget of $12 million is reportedly being allocated for the "Percy Jackson" TV show.

It is said that Riordan is approving the project, as long as "producers treat the TV adaptation without any deviations."

The decision to continue the story from movie to television was done with Cassandra Clare's "The Mortal Instruments" book series. The first part of the book, "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" was made into a movie, starred by Jamie Campbell Bower, Lily Collins, Robert Sheehan and Lena Headey.

The movie, however, didn't perform well as expected and wasn't picked up for a sequel. The CW, however, brought the franchise to live through a television show titled "Shadowhunters." The show has been renewed for a second season.

The last "Divergent" film, titled "Ascendant," might suffer the same fate as it was recently revealed that the fourth film will be produced as a TV movie.
