Justin Bieber and Sofia Richie have called it quits after a six-week romance, according to multiple reports. The news, however, does not come as a surprise as they were never serious about their relationship, according to sources.

The 22-year-old "What Do You Mean?" hitmaker and the Yeezy model have not been photographed together ever since Bieber whisked her away to Mexico to celebrate her 18th birthday last month.

A source told E! News that Bieber and Richie were never officially a couple to begin with and were just casually hanging out and having fun. "It was super-hot and heavy, and because Justin doesn't want a relationship right now, he wanted to cool things down," another insider told the website, before adding that "it wasn't an intentional cool-off," and it "just sort of happened on its own."

Bieber and Richie have already moved on and are seeing other people. The blonde was spotted partying at Hollywood hotspot The Nice Guy with 1OAK and Beacher's Madhouse co-owner Darren Dzienciol while Biebs was seen in Germany over the weekend.

Sofia, who is the daughter of singer Lionel Richie and the younger sister of Nicole Richie, and Bieber were romantically linked in August after they were snapped walking hand-in-hand in Laguna Beach, California. The former couple also went hiking together and jetted off to Japan and Tokyo with each other before Bieber celebrated her now-ex ladylove's birthday by taking her on a PDA-packed romantic getaway to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where the pair was photographed kissing and cuddling.

The split comes days after Sofia gushed about the "special relationship" she shares with the singer. "Justin is very easy to talk to, and that's hard to find with people in Los Angeles," she said in an interview with Billboard magazine.
