According to ABC News, a family source said that Amanda Bynes is doing pretty well these past few weeks as compared to where she was months ago.
The troubling behavior and random outbursts she exhibited towards the end of 2014 had many people worrying about her health and well-being.
However, Bynes is doing so much better as of now than the past months, a close family source told People. As a matter of fact, Bynes is said to be feeling so much happier now that she has her own apartment and living away from her parents. It was reported that the 28-year-old actress threatened to kill them both back in November.
The source, according to People, explained that Bynes and her parents are getting along now that she is clear-headed, focused, and enjoying more independence.
The court judge extended Bynes' conservatorship on Tuesday, which will be expanded until the next court hearing that is scheduled on June 23.
Currently, her parents hold the decision-making authority over her medical needs and finances. This is due the fact that she had been diagnosed with apparent signs of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder back in July 2013.
Her mother, Lynn, cited in the ourt papers that Bynes' behavior may cause substantial risk to herself, to other people, and to property.
"Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago. She has her own apartment and is much happier," added the source.
Bynes' family lawyer David Esquibas released the same update on Tuesday after attending a closed discussion in the judge's chamber in Ventura County, California.
He said that he is glad that the arrangement is continuing and the legal process in in Bynes' favor now.
On the latter part of October 2014, Bynes acted rather out of character when she was reported shoplifting, scratching a woman inside a nightclub in New York, and being kicked out of John F. Kennedy Airport.
It is suspected that these string of events was because she was released earlier than she should have from a psychiatric facility in October.
By admitting to an inpatient treatment, Bynes was able to avoid jail. However, she was then placed under probation for three years and fined $1,400 in May 2013.
