Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for the sci-fi movie "Passengers" on Sept. 20, Tuesday. The trailer gave moviegoers a quick look at the film's storyline and the chemistry between its two lead stars, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence.

The movie trailer for one of the year's most anticipated films teased of the explosive on-screen pairing between the two Hollywood celebrities. In "Passengers," Lawrence and Pratt portray Aurora and Preston, respectively, who both signed up for a 120 year hibernation and space exploration program.

The main purpose of the said program is to transport thousands of people to live a new life in another planet. However, a mysterious glitch in the luxury spaceship Avalon pulled the two characters out from their hibernation several years earlier than planned.

In the more than two-minute trailer, viewers were given a glimpse of Aurora and Preston's blooming romance aboard the Avalon. The teaser clip even featured a robot messenger and bartender, as well as the cute interactions between the two characters. There also appears to be something wrong with the spaceship's system given the technological malfunctions previewed in the clip.

The film's director, Morten Tyldum, commented in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming movie's story will definitely capture the interest of many viewers. The filmmaker also described the movie's script as a "page-turner" and even teased of its clever storyline. Cast member Lawrence also gushed over the film and labelled the movie's script as "perfection."

"Guardians of the Galaxy" star Pratt also made a similar comment and praised the upcoming movie for its original plotline. He also described "Passengers" as one of the "greatest, most ... compelling epic movies" that he has ever seen.

In other news, Pratt recently shared his plans to take a six-month vacation from moviemaking. The Hollywood star made the revelation during an interview with Parade where he talked about the movie "Magnificent Seven" and future plans.

Pratt explained that he has been busy completing filming activities for several movies since 2015. The actor added that he would like to take a beach island vacation and spend quality time with his family.

"Passengers" will hit movie theaters on Dec. 21.
