Despite being in the sixth spot of the current overall standings, AC Milan had been inconsistent in their games in the first six rounds of the season. After winning their season-opener, 3-2, against Torino, the team went on a two-game losing slide.

I Rossoneri was able to bounce back with two straight wins in their next two games. Their most recent match held last Sunday was a goalless draw with Fiorentina on the road at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to keep their unbeaten streak, as per Goal.

Fiorentina almost won the match by a point, but Slovenian midfielder Josip Ilicic missed a penalty kick as his attempt hit the right post of Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma's net.

Carlos Bacca was effectively defended by Viola throughout the match as the Colombian striker was not given any opening to pull off his shots.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo was able to recover from their 1-2 loss to Chievo in the previous round by nipping Udinese, 1-0, at their home turf of Mapei Stadium also last Sunday, Italian Football Daily reported.

French striker Gregoire Defrel netted the winning goal for I Neroverdi with a close-range left-footed shot at the 34th minute of the match. The assist came from Spanish defender Pol Lirola.

Udinese tried hard to find the equalizer since then as Sassuolo went on its back heel and focused on defense for the rest of the game. Sassuolo shot stopper Andrea Consigli "came under heavy fire" late in the match, but the team's defense held on to a clean sheet.

It was the third win of the season for head coach Eusebio Di Francesco's side, settling them at the ninth place in the current league table.
