They broke the previous record held by the White Stripes which played on June 23, 2013, “7 Nation Army” made up of 520 musicians. It was broken down into 121 drummers, 62 keyboardists, 97 singers and 72 bass players.

The band, which had to perform according to a good standard and conducted by an experienced professional, was led by Cui Jian, a famous songwriter and singer, more known as the “Father of Chinese Rock.”

Tina Shi and Dong Shen, officials of the Guinness World Records, judged the attempt to break the world record and certified it was broken.

According to Guinness World Record, it is aware there are reports that at the Rockin' 1000 event in Italy in 2015, there was a larger rock band. Guinness said it would welcome evidence from organizers of the event to provide evidence of their claim. However, until the claim is substantiated, the Beijing Contemporary Music Academy would be considered the current record-holder.
