Things are not going well for KBS 2TV's "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds." Ratings for the historical drama have consistently been rising since its premiere, but the 13th episode posted a drop in numbers.
"Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," which premiered on Aug. 22, just surpassed the 20 percent rating milestone, ruling over the SBS historical drama "Scarlet Heart Ryeo." However, the historical drama's rating for episode 13 saw a slight decrease compared to its 12th episode.
The said episode, which aired on Oct. 3, Monday, recorded 18.5 percent in viewership ratings, according to Nielsen Korea, as cited by The Kpop Herald. This is a 1.6 percent drop from their previous viewership rating of 20.1 percent.
Despite the slight drop, "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" still managed to maintain its top spot as the most watched drama in the Monday-Tuesday timeslot. SBS's "Scarlet Heart: Ryeo" and MBC's "Woman with a Suitcase" both scored 7.9 percent in viewership ratings.
Its relentless increase in viewership ratings is credited to its solid story content, as well as Park Bo-Gum and Kim Yoo-Jung's undeniable on-screen chemistry. Recently, the lead stars expressed gratitude to the fans for supporting the drama through a video message that KBS released on its social networking services.
The two Hallyu stars then ended their video message with an invitation to fans to continue watching "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds." The drama is based on the web novel of the same name written by Yoon Yi-Soo.
Due to the immense popularity of the historical drama, KBS Media acquired the rights to adapt "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" into a musical production. The said adaptation is the first musical ever produced by the said company.
"It's true that we acquired the musical rights," a source from KBS Media told local newsoutlet Inews24, as cited by Soompi. "We are currently in the stage of planning for a musical production. Although KBS Media has been a drama production company, we hope to make a mark on the musical industry with this production."
